 IMPROVED AIR CONNECTIVITY BETWEEN THE MEXICAN CARIBBEAN AND EUROPE

The sky is looking more blue for travelers from Spain and Portugal, who are already waiting for the next explosion of tourism, and after a year of flight restrictions, the new Spanish airline World2Fly is shaping up to bring them to the beautiful lands of the Riviera Maya.

The news was made public after meetings held by the Mexican Caribbean delegation at the International Tourism Fair of Spain, FITUR 2021, and as a result they announced that flights will depart from Madrid and Lisbon to Cancún.

Now the expected date for the people of Madrid is June 21, the day on which the aircraft will begin operations, for those who wish to travel from Lisbon, they can do so from July 11, said the general director of the Tourism Promotion Council of Quintana Roo, Dario Flota Ocampo, who looks forward to the connectivity link with the European country.

With the same joy, the CEO of World2fly stated: “We are very happy with this new project and we are looking forward to start flying to Cancún so that our customers can enjoy this wonderful destination”.

From Madrid, this transatlantic trip will bring up to 432 passengers a week aboard an Airbus A350, a new model, equipped with the latest technology and designed to reduce firstly pollution, as it consumes 25 percent less fuel, secondly noise levels, it is known to be one of the quietest airplanes in the world, and finally the feeling of jet-lag, which is lighter. 

With similar characteristics, the A 330 will be able to accommodate up to 388 passengers coming from the Portuguese city. The multicultural nature of the state of Quintana Roo lends itself to serve almost 42 percent of the total number of Spaniards visiting Mexico, from where 23,432 out of one hundred thousand twenty-eight seek out this Caribbean destination.
