Time goes on and on in Playa del Carmen
Time seems to fly here, I arrived a few years ago and I still feel like I’m standing in that bus station, with a small suitcase full of dreams and a picture of my family. Completely disoriented, not knowing what my first step would be, what my first job would be, my first friend, my first kiss, I was about to write a new story.
I went through so many experiences that made me question if I really wanted to be here, there were tests and a lot of learning, but there was not a single day that I thought about coming back, you have to live through everything to appreciate the smallness of life, to understand how valuable it is to have a friend call you family, to eat on chairs, couches, benches, sidewalks, the floor, in the sand, on dry leaves, on the grass, sometimes under the water and sometimes with all your friends on the rooftop.
After a while I know what it’s like to start from scratch, they no longer have to tell me, I made mistakes so many times, but I learned, now that I’ve gone through that stage I understand that it’s time to help those who arrive, all the crazy people from different parts of the world who seek absolute freedom in this paradise.
People are fleeting, yes, like the stars, you meet someone and in a week they are gone, so don’t even think about falling in love; although honestly it is inevitable so don’t pay too much attention to me and better fall in love once, twice, three times or as many times as necessary, but most importantly, fall in love with you, recognize all that you have achieved. Recognize that you were very brave to leave everything; your job, your friends, your family, in order to be able to make your own history, fulfilling your dreams and overcoming your fears.
Now I understand the phrase “time flies”, the clock is ticking and it is getting faster and faster, the only thing left is to keep going, the road is just beginning and we have so many stories to tell, many places to visit, many people to meet, lots of food, lots of dancing, lots of tears and also lots of laughter, and while that happens, let’s enjoy what we are living today, the present.
