Mexico takes part in the Venice Biennale 2021
Mexico is participating in the Venice Biennale, one of the most important art events in the world, with pavilions, conferences and parallel exhibitions, such as the “Displacements” pavilion, curated by architects Mauricio Rocha, Elena Tudela, Isadora Hastings and Natalia de la Rosa.
Focused on establishing a dialogue about migration as a consequence of inequalities, environmental deterioration, violence and disaster risks, the Mexican proposal was chosen out of 153 from 14 states and adheres to the biennial’s theme: How will we live together?
Other Mexican architectural figures were also present, such as Juan Carlos Baumgartner, founder of the spAce firm, who presented “spAces of AWE,” a theory he puts into practice to demonstrate how architecture and the environment influence brain structure.
For her part, Lucila Aguilar is also presenting in a parallel space, at the European Cultural Centre (ECC), with the exhibition “IXUA, Barrio Palenque”, which is built next to the Mayan Train, in which she uses bamboo bones placed on the wall and a hanging structure, as well as wheels on the floor.
