Restrictions continue due to rising number of contagions in Quintana Roo
More medicines, more tests, and to speed up the vaccination process, please! This is what everyone wishes for at this time when a new month begins and with it promises of summer and vacations à la carte in the Riviera Maya; a place that has been praised for remaining active in many of its daily activities. The fact is that without tourism, everything stops, malaise remains and the immediacy of ignorance gets heated.
The hospitals of the most visited places in the state are constantly operating without rest, places where the government, businessmen and the media inform the population that we are keeping the epidemiological traffic light in orange, a color that allowed the infection of about 300 people per day, according to official figures for the week of June 20 to 26.
On the government website, the municipality of Solidaridad almost reaches half of the hospital occupancy, with 41 percent, Benito Juárez reaches 36 percent, while Cozumel and Othón P. Blanco have managed to lower their numbers to 23 percent and 15 percent respectively.
Nevertheless, the litany of each week is: follow the 10 safety measures already established by the governor; in the street, in the squares, in public places it is important that everyone keeps a healthy distance, that we are careful to use hand sanitizer or wash our hands continuously, always with soap and water; these are some of them, and this is how each one of the inhabitants is made responsible for the health of all, who are invited to live in peace and safe from the virus.
In the face of the threatening red color, the only thing left to do is tighten the measures in favor of health and economy, where the general closing time of restaurants and bars, among other places of entertainment, has been reinforced, as well as the idyllic campaign of having public transportation carrying fewer people on board, which without incentives and in view of the demand of the population, the drivers do not see the point, they are content with everyone wearing their masks, and carrying out regular cleaning work in the units.
Now then, this week the Health authorities are investing efforts in placing needles in the arms of the younger population, those between 30 and 39 years of age, as part of the strategy coordinated by the federation and the state. The fact is that if greater protection is not achieved in the younger sectors that are involved in risky economic activities (tourism and others involving close person-to-person exchanges), the fear of the arrival of the variant grows, the same one that hit India since April with infection numbers that have only recently dropped.
Certainly, the contagion curve is rising, from June 29 to June 30, 324 people were infected, the numbers become miserable, because on average, tragedy triggers the daily death of 7 people, fathers, mothers, brothers, daughters and sons, friends who will never see each other again.
